Managing Parks and Open Space
Exploring Regional Alternatives
June 1993
1992 Institute Report of the City Parks Association
This report discusses the issues of the 1992 Symposium, entitled “Metro Parks 2000: Options for Regional Funding, Management and Planning of Public Open Spaces.” In the report, City Parks Association identifies two critical steps toward strengthening Southeaster Pennsylvania’s regional open space system. First, it recommends expanding and building upon current open space preservation and management efforts with broad cross-jurisdictional implications. Second, the Association suggests examining the constitutional, legislative, fiscal, and practical aspects of formalizing coordination of region-wide public open space management.
