The Rendell Plan for Fairmount Park
1990
Paid for by Rendell ‘91 Committee, Rendell for Mayor
This paper discusses the reasons behind the decline of Fairmount Park. It outlines Ed Rendell’s plans upon his election, which include: restoring the park to a sound funding base; developing regional support; increasing corporate and volunteer efforts; keeping park revenues in the park; expanding the park’s production and recycling capabilities; transferring machinery maintenance to public property; building maintenance costs into capital projects; resisting unfunded new mandates for the park; establishing spending priorities; enforcing existing stormwater management laws; and coordinating park activities with other city departments. Attached to this paper are several articles about Fairmount Park from local newspapers.
